Today's poem on Penny's Poetry Blog:
Summer in the South, by Paul Laurence Dunbar
The oriole sings in the greening grove
As if he were half-way waiting,
The rosebuds peep from their hoods of green,
Timid and hesitating.

PING George DANCE....!!
Hi GD what about the poetry of Kirby Doyle..?
https://pennyspoetry.fandom.com/wiki/Kirby_Doyle?so=search
*********** Kirby Doyle (November 27, 1932 - April 5, 2003) was an >>>>> American poet and novelist, part of the San Francisco Renaissance of the >>>>> 20th century.************
His work's copyrighted in Canada until 2054 under present law.
Oh Lordy... I see....!
No problem. He's out, as I don't think I'll be doing the blog when I'm >>>> 100; but feel free to suggest any poets. It's easy enough for me to look >>>> up their death dates.
Again, for the record, the poet has to have been passed away how many
years for the Copyright in Canada to expire..?
20, 22 years..?
51 years in Canada. Which is "low" by today's standards -- in Britain
and Europe (and for newer works in the US) it's now 71 years, and in
Mexico it's 101 years.
Something for the future generations to investigate, then.
Since this was posted, the copyright term in Canada has increased to
life + 53 years. We're in the process of increasing it to life +70
years, by extending the term by one year every year - the same way the
U.S. extended its copyright term in the 1980s and 1990s.
