    Maher's (very minor) sin was that he tried to speak to a 94-year-old
    like she was hip to the modern world. He likely intended it to be anti-condescending, i.e., a compliment.

    Eden had clearly never heard the term “Smokeshow“ before but recognized it as a compliment and took it as such.

    ...which is a stance I don't understand. Although Maher is arguably left-leaning, I don't know a TV pundit who's as politically uncommitted.

    Michael Smerconish on CNN is pretty objective, but not as irreverent or amusing.
