    Yul Brynner's performance as the King of Siam in The King and I on
    Broadway, not the shaved head, is what made him appealing to women, not
    to mention the appeal that a married man has to a single woman since
    he's already shown that he can take care of a woman (what with 102 wives
    or so and 244 children), the ultimate cliche.

    Telly Savalas shaved his head to play Pontius Pilate in The Dullest
    Movie Ever Made (1965); it wasn't a performance comparable to Brynner's.

    Kojak appealed to women? I didn't know.

    Not sure about Bruce Willis. While he had a receding hairline much of
    his career, by the time he was completely bald, he was noticeably ill.

    there's a subset of people who consider baldness attractive.

    Yes, and they're fairly loud about it, but I still wonder why they
    picked him. He's not handsome. He just isn't. I don't want to get into >cataloging his faults, but come on.

    I suspect some people call others "sexy" when it's really something else
    they admire, thinking that sexiness is the highest possible compliment.
    Just a pet theory I have.

    It's easier to shave one's head to look like Yul Brynner than it is to
    play the King of Siam on stage exuding manliness and receive the lust of
    women. Gosh, if that's all it took, there'd be a hell of a lot of men
    who shave their heads.

    I've seen it several times. Rex Harrison did not shave his head and
    never thought he was quite right for the role.
