Pretty good ep, but I rolled my eyes hard at Brian's plot to "rescue"

Of course, Brian knew the exact price of the dog bed (don't you get a bonus

SUPERGIRL IS HERE ALREADY?! + WHO SHOULD PLAY THE NEXT WONDER WOMAN? | Film Threat News: this just in! Chris Gore and Alan Ng report…

If you were expecting the DCU's new Supergirl to be a female copy of Superman, think again. As James Gunn has said, she's "a total mess", and there's a dark reason why.

Superman is so back. David Corenswet has officially stepped into the Man of Steel's red boots, with the new movie marking the official launch of Gunn and Peter Safran's reimagined DC Universe.

It's off to a promising start, earning $217 million at the global box office after its opening weekend, which bodes well for future DCU projects.

That includes Supergirl, which sees Milly Alcock taking on the role of Kara Zor-El. Despite being Supe's cousin, the film is set to be the grittier outsider. Alcock's Supergirl makes a brief cameo at the end of SUPERMAN, turning up to the Fortress of Solitude to reclaim her doggo Krypto-- and she's absolutely wasted.

[BTR1701: How is she wasted? I didn't think human drugs could affect a Kryptonian.
Does this mean you could defeat Superman with poison gas as well?]

Gunn told ScreenRant that this is the version of Supergirl we'll be meeting in her movie, the reason being that, unlike her cousin, she has had a tough upbringing.

[BTR1701: Cool! Does this mean she's a super-slut also? And how do
men survive having sex with her?]

"Yeah, that's her. She's a mess. She's a total mess. I mean, I think as we learn, she's had a completely different background from Superman. A much more difficult background. He's had this wonderful upbringing by these two parents who loved him and were very healthy and her background was much different than that. She's ended up different than her cousin."

In the comics, Kara Zor-El didn't grow up in Kansas with two kind-hearted farmers-- she spent her formative years on the remnants of Krypton, witnessing the planet's collapse and suffering immense trauma before finally arriving on Earth.

While Clark Kent landed as a baby and was given decades to grow into his
powers surrounded by love and stability, Kara arrived as a teenager, already shaped by loss and displacement. This fundamental difference defines their personalities. Superman is hopeful because he knows humanity at its best. Supergirl, especially in the Woman of Tomorrow comic by Tom King, sees the universe at its worst. As such, she’s more jaded and we can expect to see this
    in the DCU's upcoming movie.

This was confirmed by Gunn back in 2023, who told THR, "She is much more hard-core and not the Supergirl we're used to. We will see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl, raised on a rock, a chip off of Krypton, and who watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible
ways for the first 14 years of her life and then come to Earth."

Superman is currently in cinemas, while Supergirl is set to drop on June 26, 2026.

[BTR1701: The LGBTQIA@*)^&$; crowd is already screaming that if
they don't make Supergirl lesbian, they're going to be outraged.
Apparently they really wanted Supergirl to be a troon dude in a dress,
but that would have meant there would be no Supergirl, just two
Supermen, one of them delusional. Plus the actress was already cast
and in the SUPERMAN movie as a cameo before the nutjob activists
found out about it, so lesbian is all they can hope for at this point.]

    What did you watch?

A long workday (including a morning meeting with technical issues), and
then I had titans I had to tend to and level when I got home!! so just a
    soap and a movie:

    soaps: Y&R (Pee+) - I think Wed's ep. Chance questions Filis[sic!] about witnessing Damien's "death"/murder (I'm starting to wonder if it will
turn out that Damien's death was somehow staged?...). Dumb Lily reels
over Damien's death. Someone plants the murder weapon in Nick's train car!

In The Lost Lands (Hulu) - Milla Jovovich and Dave Bautista... are... In
    The Lost Lands!!
Another Paul W.S. Anderson special starring his wife.
OMG - Jovovich's character's name in this is "Gray Alys"! - Her name
    is "Alice" *again*?!?!!
Interesting - this is apparently based on a short story from George
    R.R. Martin!
Note: This was also filmed "300"/"Dark City" style - I'm sure that
about 100% of this was filmed in greenscreen with the cool visuals added
in later in post. (And this is a "budget" operation, so unlike, say, "Colonials" (Colonials!), this film's greenscreen/CGI work doesn't look
    like sh*t!!)
    Gist: Post-apocalyptic sword/western & sorcery flick. After a
nuclear war, an age of monsters and magic is ushered in! (I know I've
seen this angle done somewhere before! Hmmmmmm... ;p )
Jovovich's "Gray Alys" is a "witch", hunted (as a witch!) by the
"church" (with the main baddie being a warrior/enforcer "nun"(?) played
by Arly Jover). For some reason, she *must* grant any wish/quest asked
of her. The "Queen" (Amara Okereke) does make a "wish" - that Gray Alys
kill the resident "werewolf" and take his power to make the Queen a
    werewolf too.
The "werewolf" lives... In The Lost Lands! so Gray Alys needs a
guide, Boyce (Bautista) to track him down.
Wackiness ensues on their 7-day quest to get to the werewolf by the
full moon, while being hunted by the evol! enforcer nun and her band of
    church crazies!
Meanwhile, the Queen has to fend off various forces on her way to
    ascend to power.
This was an OK timekiller, but it wasn't the best from Anderson or Jovovich, or the best of sword/western & sorcery flicks or
all-greenscreen/CGI flicks (though most of the visuals are pretty cool looking).

I only remember Jover from the first BLADE movie, where she played a bleach-blond green-eyed vampire. Quite the smokeshow back then. Haven't recalled seeing her in anything since.
