• What Did You Watch? 2025-07-13 (Sunday)

From Ubiquitous@21:1/5 to All on Mon Jul 14 04:30:41 2025
    I watched:

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    THE LOVE BOAT:
"His Girls Friday". A businessman takes his prissy secretary on a business trip. When he meets a dizzy blonde, his problem is how does he get his secretary to quit, so he can hire the blonde.
"A Wife for Wilfred". Wilfred offers the crew $10,000 if they can find him
a pretty wife. He's soon surrounded by five beautiful women, all fighting for his attention, and the crew trying to win a quick ten grand. When the crew
find out Wilfred lied about paying the money so he can meet girls, the crew
get the flower shop girl to pretend to be his wife.
"The Girl Who Stood Still". Two childhood sweethearts, separated since school, meet up on the cruise. How does the girl tell her old boyfriend that she now lives with a back brace, due to a spine disease. https://youtu.be/lWLye4Ty6mE

    FAMILY GUY:
"Cool Hand Lois". After pleasuring herself for the first time, Lois embarks
on a journey of self-discovery which includes dating Bonnie.
Lois discovers masturbation, hilarity ensues. And then realized lesbian sex wasn't for her. At least they ackowledged doing this a few years ago when Meg was sitting on Santa's lap.

    KRAPOPOLIS:
"Shlub$". Shlub is sick -- well, one part of Shlub is sick. The family uses Hippocampus' new invention to extract and replace the ailing part but might just need to operate on themselves in order to save him.

This was a weak one, but at least they acknowledged the ep would only last
five minutes if Deliria got involved.

    What did you watch?

    Sports, and soaps.

Wimbledon - Huh, well I didn't think Sinner would actually beat Alcaraz
in the men's final. And in just 4 sets. Still, Sinner won his 3 sets by
a single break, so it was close.

Scottish Open - Rory McIlroy was a consistent second, but he could never overcome the two-stroke lead of eventual winner, American(!?!) Chris
Gotterup. What makes this even weirder is I don't even know Gotterup - apparently he won one previous PGA event (the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic,
which is a minor PGA event occurring the same weak as the much bigger
Quail Hollow Championship in Charlotte, NC). Odd that this guy came out
of nowhere to win the Scottish Open, of all things!!

I saw some of the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship
Tournament, the one played at Tahoe, that people like Charles Barkley
and Steph Curry always show up to. An NHL guy, Joe Pavelski, won this year.
I like how in this tournament, bogeys are counted as "even" (i.e. "0 points"), so only double-bogeys or worse actually lower your score in
    this one!

    soaps: Both Fri's ep's.
DOOL - Xander freaks out when Sarah asks for permission to take
their daughter on a trip with Maggie to Bermuda(?) - he then takes
possession of the child removing it from the Kiriakis mansion.
Meanwhile, Sarah goes to NuPhilip to try to strike a deal with him to
take Xander down and send him to jail. Gwen (Gwen is back!! :D )
refuses to return the necklace to JJ, who is acting like his usual ass
self. The video card sent to Jada and the cops (has been doctored? by EJ
& co.) and appears to incriminate Chanel! (I like that EJ is now
determined to take Chanel down!) so Chanel is questioned by Jada.
GH - NuMichael is as big of an ass as oldMichael, butting in when
Dante is righteously ripping into Brook Lynn; but Dante is a p*ssy, and
backs down to Brook Lynn, even though she should be drop kicked to
Sunday! Tracy tries to talk Chase into talking Brook Lynn down from her Revenge!! mission (too late!). NuNuLulu talks to Laura about the Rocco situation. Rocco secretly reaches out to Lisel Obrecht (I wonder if she
will come back to the show now!)... That lil' bitch Trina seems to break
up with Kai when Kai admits that he warned Drew about Curtis admittedly
shady and illegal plan to frame Drew for a crime. Curtis warns Michael
that he's having to knuckle under to Drew's blackmail... Ha! When Vaughn
and Emma get trapped in getting queried by Anna Devane, Vaughn is forced
to call in Josslyn to stage a very public "reconciliation" (kissy face!!
and Josslyn was even wearing a slutty dress to sell it!) to throw Emma
and thus Anna off their trail!

I left "If I Go Missing" on Lifetime on as background noise in the
evening - it's too bad this film is tonally a mess, as there's a kernel
of an interesting idea in here, but I don't think they got to it with
    what they did here.

    What did you watch?

    I watched:

Hot Shots (blu-ray) 1991 comedy from the team behind "Airplaine!"
Charlie Sheen stars as a Top Gun navy pilot who is recruited to fly a
top secret mission for the Navy to destroy a enemy nuclear power plant.
The quality of the disc isn't great, but the movie otherwise holds up
    very well.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2LVG7pk_Go

Hot Shots! Part Deux (blu-ray) 1993 sequel which finds Sheen returning
to parody Rambo movies. This one is also funny.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aqopEQr7wI

Major League (4K disc) - 1989 comedy starring Charlie Sheen as a washed
up professional baseball player who is on a team where the owner is
doing everything she can to make sure they lose. This was almost a
blind buy, but technically, I know I saw it once before on TV when it
first came out. Watching it again after all of these years, I
remembered more than I was expecting. It was OK. I had the commentary
track on closed captions. The director had some interesting bits of
trivia like in the original ending it was revealed that the owner was
secretly trying to motivate the team to win, but test audiences hated
that and wanted her to just be evil for evil's sake. The director
almost mentioned this was one of Wesley Snipe's first movie roles and
while he was a good athlete he couldn't run very fast. The reason the
scene early in the movie where Snipe's character is running faster than everyone else is in slow motion is because it was the only way to make
it realistically look like Snipes was faster.

Fun movie. Back when Snipes and Charlie Sheen had yet to have their
major meltdowns. As for Snipes and his running, I didn't know that but
I'm not surprised there was some movie magic involved.
