        Streaming:

Such Brave Girls       (complete season 2)        (12:01 am, Hulu)

and Billie returns. Deb (Louise Brealey) is hoping for a financial
miracle. Josie (Kat Sadler) is on a never-ending quest for meaning and
Billie (Lizzie Davidson) is chasing a fairytale romance. Expect bigger disasters, terrible choices, and more harrowing love stories as this
family continues their impossible journey for a better life. Season one streamed in 2023; six episodes.

Again, I suspect I would really dislike this show.

Bachelor in Paradise       (season 10 premiere)        (8-11 pm, ABC)

Breakout fan favorites from "The Bachelor" franchise are back and ready

            Tuesday, July 8

        Broadcast and cable:

Renaissance: The Blood and the Beauty     [new to US]         (9 pm, PBS)

The three-part series about the rivalry between Michelangelo (Charles
Dance), Leonardo da Vinci (Jonny Glynn), and Raphael (Joshua Duffy) is narrated by Sophie Okonedo. Premiered originally in the UK in December
    2024.

This would have been more interesting if it was scripted, rather than a
    doc...

            Wednesday, July 9

        Streaming:

Ballard      [new; complete season 1]     (12:01 am, Prime Video)

Posey (Lumi Pollack), Jade (Carmen Sanchez) and Tulip (Ruby Marino)
recall how they met in high school and formed their pop band in the
comedy series that features songs written by Diane Warren.

It shows how far Disney Channel has fallen out of popular consciousness

killer responsible for the disappearance of her best friend. Stars Emma
Elle Paterson, Hannah Vandenbygaart, Robert Bazzocchi, and Damon Mclean.
    Tubi Original from December 2024.

Already saw this on Tubi - if you could still search usenet, you can
find my review for this around the time it first premiered on Tubi back
    in Dec. 2024.

My recollection - I liked this, until the massive tone shift with the super-dark ending.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Moon and Back      (movie; linear premiere)       (8 pm, Hallmark Mystery)

The POstables take a road trip to find the recipient of a lost letter
and track down a musician who is the key to solving the case. Stars Eric Mabius, Kristin Booth, Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe, Geoff Gustafson, and
Gregory Harrison. Has been available on Hallmark+ since April.

    Gregory Harrison?! Since when!!

Dexter: Resurrection      [new]      (8 and 9 pm, two episodes, Showtime)

He's back ... again. For the second time. Michael C. Hall reprises his best-known role as America's favorite vigilante serial killer Dexter
Morgan in this sequel to the sequel to the long-running Showtime hit
Dexter and that show's very recent prequel. Sure, [spoiler alert] Dexter
died at the end of the 2021 sequel series, but why let that stop the franchise from continuing when you have a streaming service in need of non-Star Trek content? The newest series picks up a few weeks later,
with Dexter not dead but somehow surviving being shot in the chest by
his son (Jack Alcott, who returns here), and the story then moves to New
York City for reasons yet unspecified. Skeptical? Perhaps this
impressive list of new and recurring cast members might sway you: Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian. Also returning from the OG Dexter
are David Zayas and James Remar, plus fan-favorite baddies played by
John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits. Regular time is 8 pm only. Ten episodes
running through Sept. 7. Episodes stream on the preceding Friday on Paramount+.

    It's Harvey Levin's favorite show!! ;p

The Institute        [new]        (9 and 10 pm, two episodes, MGM+)

Adapted from Stephen King's novel of the same name by former Justified
writer Benjamin Cavell, this thriller centers on a teen genius who is kidnapped and taken to a mysterious facility filled with other children
with unusual abilities. Joe Freeman, Mary-Louise Parker, and Ben Barnes
star. Eight episodes running through August 24. Regular time is 9 pm only.

I might have watched this, but...

    NOBODY GETS MGM+!!

    (end)

The issue this summer is that I keep accumulating flicks and films that
are worth watching, and then can never find the time to actually watch
    movies!!

For what it's worth, I watched the first two episodes and saw that Peter Dinklage was credited in both of them but I didn't get even a glimpse of
him. I know that sometimes people are credited in every episode even if
they only occur in some of them so maybe that explains his credits.

Uma Thurman was definitely there as was Jimmy Smits and John Lithgow.

Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris and Eric Stonestreet were not
credited and I didn't see them even once.

When a mysterious brick wall encloses their apartment building
overnight, Tim and Olivia must unite with their wary neighbors to get
out alive. German film; 1h 39m.

This sounds an awful lot like Stephen King's story THE CANNIBALS, which was a novel King wrote half of just after he graduated college and then abandoned before reworking and finishing it years later as UNDER THE DOME.

In King's story about 100 residents of a large high-rise apartment building wake up one morning to find they can't exit the building. The doors seem to
all be impenetrable, as if they're welded shut, and the window glass won't break. Nothing will penetrate them or the walls. One resident even fires a gun at one of the windows and it doesn't even leave a scratch. No phones will work and people passing by outside don't seem to notice the resident in the windows banging on them and calling for help.

The rest of the story follows everyone in the building as they come to terms with their new prison and how they break off into factions and become more and more feral and violent as time goes on. Unfortunately it abruptly ends about 100 pages in where King got bored with it and threw it in a drawer for 25 years.
