I actually had to go into work (IOW, my main job) on Monday, before
going to my Summer job, so all I got through was one soap yesterday:
What did you watch?
The Librarians: the Next Chapter: And the Hangover from Hell
Episode eight
The worst episode of the Librarians ever made, and one of the worst hours
of television ever made
Written by Rebecca Rosenberg, whose credits include
Two episodes of the Awful Arrow
Three episodes of the Awful Outpost
Three episodes of the Awful Ark
And now one episode of the Awful Archivists
(Actually that’s ALL of her writing credits.)
And directed by Hannah Espia-Farbová, a Fulbright scholar (!) known for directing one episode of the Awful Ark and two episodes of the Awful Almost Paradise, but perhaps best known for editing Sakaling hindi makarating.
She apparently just got married, which may be why somebody thought she was qualified to direct an episode of the Librarians that was all about a bachelorette party.
This is another one of those shows where the “creative” team is so wildly incompetent that they start in the middle so they have an action scene and
then present the rest of it in flashbacks.
Our heroes all say how they don’t remember what led up to the action scene and then they all tell each other everything that happened up to the action scene and the others correct them when they go askew and even comment on
the visuals that they can’t possibly be seeing. So what happened to they don’t remember?
The whole thing is super girly with the girls squealing, and the other characters actually commenting on the fact that the girls are squealing,
and of course, the men are useless.
The story, such as it was, revolves around Lysa’s best friend coming to
town, so Lysa can throw her a bachelorette party. They rent a big house to throw it in so as to not let the friend see the castle where the library
annex is hidden deep in it’s bowels and said castle has functioned as a tourist destination for hundreds of years, so what exactly is the problem?
Of course, the wedding planner turns out to be evil because conservation of characters.
The best friend is also evil and the entire wedding is fake, she just wants
to convince Lysa to sell the castle so she can get a real estate commission
on it. She discusses her evil plan on the phone, but I have no idea who
she was talking to. At the end, we find out that the best friend has always been evil and kept.Lysa from having ever had another friend her whole life
just because.
None of it makes sense and every minute of it is cringe worthy.
Even Jessica Green couldn’t save this.
