• Chavez loses to Jake Paul, but that's not punishment enough

    From Adam H. Kerman@21:1/5 to All on Thu Jul 3 22:42:18 2025
Julio Cesar Chavez, retired middleweight, agreed to fight Jake Paul,
then didn't put up much of a fight till the very end. The fight was
    staged June 28th in Anneheim.

In an unrelated and completely bizarre coincidence, on June 27,
Department of Homeland Security determined that Chavez overstayed his
visa (You'd think that his lawyers would have been up on this) and lied
on his green card application (not explained), and failed to pay
adequate bribes in Mexico where he faces organized crime charges (also
    not explained).

But he wasn't taken into custody on the 27th, which would have cancelled
the fight. Instead, he was picked up on July 2.
