    HOGAN'S HEROES:
"Two Nazis for the Price of One". A Gestapo agent knows about Hogan's
operation and tries to leverage this knowledge to gain information about
the Manhattan Project. The ending was interesting in that it appeared
that Hogan was going to have to kill the agent to keep him quiet but was
beaten to the punch by the Gestapo agent's verbally-abused second in
    command.

    HOGAN'S HEROES:
"Is There a Doctor in the House?". Klink's illness jeopardizes plans to
smuggle out a French girl---so the POWs pile on remedies and tender
    loving care.

Starting to get back into the swing of normal summer (work) life.
Yesterday, I ran errands, and watched:

soaps: GH - I think last Fri's ep. Brook Lynn is jealous when she spies
a friendly moment between Gio and NuNuLulu. Dante makes an overture to
Gio - I was disappointed when Gio didn't bounce Dante out on his ass.
Alexis goes to Lizzie when she finds out that Lizzie knows that Kristina
was responsible for the car accident. Natalia (Booby Vista) tells Marco
that she's leaving town, and Marco warns her that Sonny is leading her
on and is going to kill her (I really hope that happens - it would be an unexpected plot development). Cody continues working to seduce Ava, who
is getting paranoid about Ric's interest in Lizzie. Ric refuses to take
Martin Gray on as a client, and the hospital informs him that his
    medical insurance has lapsed!
Y&R - Catching up an episodes I missed (from about 2 weeks ago?...).
These mostly concerned the revelation that "Aristotle Dumas" is in fact
the returned Cane Ashby (recast with DOOL's Billy Flynn - sidenote:
what's weird about this is that Cane's original portrayer, Daniel
Goddard, has a very infrequent recurring role on GH right now, so
Goddard must have turned down coming back to Y&R), which blindsides esp.
    Lily.

I watched the first(?) two-and-a-half episodes of "High Potential" with
Kaitlin Olson - I fell asleep during the third episode, and threw in the
towel then and went to bed... Anyway, this show isn't breaking any new
ground - it's in the "genius observationist mystery solver" sub-genre -
though I found especially the pilot to be much more "up with people!1!"
than, say, "The Mentalist" - for these kinds of shows I prefer the dark
or snarky cynicism of shows like "The Mentalist" or "Psych" to a 'girl
power' version of this like "High Potential"... Anyway, this is
watchable (the show has a continuing "meta" storyline concerning the
mystery of Olson's character's missing first husband(?)) - the
supporting cast is good - though I doubt I'm going out of my way to
    watch it.

    I watched:

Ironheart (Disney+) - The final 3 episodes dropped. "Bad Magic,"
"Karma's a Glitch," and "The Past Is the Past." I read a comment after
the first three episodes where someone speculated the series was
originally supposed to be 8 episodes but got retooled into 6. Now that
I've watched the back 3, it does feel like they turned 8 into 6.
Overall, I guess it was OK. But I was half joking during the first
three when I said Ironheart was being written as a villain. These back
three didn't really change that perspective. Characters in the show
were even calling her out as not being a hero, with everything she did
being for her own selfish reasons. And off the top of my head, I can't
think of anything she did that wasn't for her own selfish reasons. Then
to top it off in the finale she willingly fbyq ure fbhy gb gur qrivy.
Yes, she actually did that, and then the show ended.

That show confused me as a kid. I didn't understand why they were called "prisoners" when they seemed to move around freely and do whatever they wanted. :-)

That never occurred to me. I got the joke even as a kid. But what used
to confuse me was in "Transformers: The Movie" there is a scene where characters are on trial and the judge is asked "guilty" or "Innocent"
and when the verdict is "Innocent" the sentence is death. As a kid I
used to wonder if they are innocent then why are they being sentenced to
death. Now I realize the villains were so evil that they were
sentencing innocent people to death, but as a kid it went over my head.

I watched Jumanji. I didn't see it when it came out, because the
advertising made it look like they were all pulled into the game and
    just had a dopey adventure.

It's a good movie. It explored some themes about trust and growing up,
and I liked Alan's realization that his "evil and abusive" father did
    love him.

Did you catch the same actor played both the father and the big-game hunter?

Turns out it's a great family movie *and* a dopey adventure.

I'm not sure it was wise for the older two to go back to 1969. They get another chance at their youths, but it's at the cost of the younger
two's existence. Things will go differently this time, so it's likely
    they'll never be born.

I don't think that's ever occurred to me before now.

I'd have preferred it if they'd picked up and
gone on from where they were, as real life requires.

That's a minor point, though. It's a great movie overall.

I like Jumangi now a lot more than I did when it first came out. But I
still think the sequel, "Zathura: A Space Adventure" is better. It's
basically a rehash of Jumangi, except set in outer space.

I just looked at the uncited IMDb trivia. It wasn't originally intended,
but it makes so much sense to do so.

Originally Jonathan Hyde was not supposed to play dual roles of
Sam Parrish and Van Pelt. He had been cast as Van Pelt
immediately after Tim Curry passed on that role but at that
point Sam had yet o be cast. Several character actors were
considered for the role including Michael Moriarty, David Graf,
Edward Herrman (who co-starred with Hyde in Richie Rich (1994)
the previous year) and Rowan Atkinson. However all declined the
role due to other commitments leaving nobody else available so
director Joe Johnston asked Hyde to play both Sam and Van Pelt.
Hyde initially did not want to do two roles feeling it would be
pretty obvious he would be recognized as the same actor who
played Sam even with Van Pelt's makeup but he eventually
relented when he realized that Sam was such a small role and
    ultimately agreed.

    . . .

I’m still trying to make it through episode two.

Simultaneously with them dropping the back three they announced the
Mephisto actor. I had forgotten the big M was going to be in this. The
thing is the big M would swat iHeart like a bug. It’s like Bambi versus Godzilla. And he doesn’t even waltz.
