soaps: DOOL - Fri's ep. They finally moved on from John's funeral. This
episode primarily concerned Xander, whom everyone considers a villain
now - Sarah uses that leverage to get Xander to agree to only visitation
of their daughter approved by Sarah. (Sarah also talked about leaving
town to Maggie, so I wonder if Linsey Godfrey is about to bolt again.) Meanwhile Kate looks over coma Philip. Later, she goes to see Alex K. - interrupting Alex and Stephanie nearly in flagrante (I'm surprised that
Kate didn't figure out then and there that Stephanie wrote the smutty manuscript!) - to tell Alex that she lost the manuscript. (It's still in
the hospital - Kayla nearly discovered it!) At the end, Xander goes for
another attempt to kill Philip to try to eliminate the only witness to
his crime.
GH - Thur's ep. Turns out, this episode wasn't too spoiled for me by
my visit to the barber! This was pretty good. In what I consider to be
an unrealistic development (at least, not without someone paying off the judge), the family court judge declares Willow to be a negligent mother
and gives full custody to NuMichael! At first I couldn't figure out why
Willow wasn't reacting!... But then Willow suddenly get that she's been stripped of her kids, and has a complete emotional meltdown right
there!! She ends up getting put in GH under Lizzie's care (and I wonder
if they are going to send Willow off to Ferncliff!) Nina demolishes Drew
for this, telling him that he is solely responsible for melting down
Willow's life and sanity (mostly true!!). Meanwhile, while Kristina
explains her dumb sinister plan to a skeptical Alexis, Cody starts
working to seduce Ava, but demands more money from Kristina to do so
(good for him!!). And Natalia (Booby Vista) goes to Sonny to "warn" him
that the ADA is trying to coerce Natalia to testify or provide evidence
against Sonny - but really I think Natalia was trying to subtly shake
Sonny down!! (I wonder if he will throw her to the wolves!?!)
Watched some of Day 2 of the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club outside
of Pittsburgh.
Bride or Die (LMN) - This 2025 flick opens in very dramatic fashion when
the psycho ex of the groom bursts into the engagement party, hurling
threats and insults, and then goes at the bride (Kelley Jakle, from the "<s>B</s>Pitch Perfect" series, and a few Lifetime and Hallmark flicks)
with a knife before being subdued by the party goers!
From here we shift to several weeks(?) later, as the bride's three
besties (Rachele Schank from Lifetime's 2021 flick "How I Met Your
Murderer" though it looks like Schank wasn't acting between that film
and now; Kara Royster from various Lifetime & Tubi flicks; and Mary Kate
Wiles) insist upon taking the bride to a cabin in the woods to "relax"
after the harrowing ordeal.
But, on the way, the besties find out that the psycho ex-girlfriend
of the groom has been released from jail, and decide not to tell the
bride. (What could possibly go wrong?!!)
Soon enough, though, disturbing stuff starts to happen. Is the
psycho ex back to take out the bride for good?! Or is something else
going on?...
Unfortunately, I figured out rather quickly what was actually going
on (they didn't do much to hide it, though I will say the casting played against expectations on this...). Still, I actually enjoyed this, even
though I anticipated everything that happened until the actual denouement.
Interestingly, I can tell from the end-credits that this was not a
Lifetime (or Tubi) flick - it appears to have been a "real film" (it
premiered at a festival) that was soon after picked up by LMN for TV
airing.
