I still think it's lame to just be remaking the books that have already been made into movies. It's not even like these movies were made 50 years ago or something and there might be an argument that updating the SFX would enhance the experience. The movies are recent enough that the visual effects are more than sufficient.

And of course they seem to have race-swapped Hermione, but that's pretty much par for the course these days.

(I got to interview the original Hermione when she flew into LAX for an awards show. She had a stalker who was not only threatening her, but had started threatening Obama as well, so we intercepted Emma Watson at LAX and talked to her to both let her know the guy was in town and to see if she had any info on him that we didn't.)

As they did with Hi-Ho’s character in the Percy lightning Jackson thief series. But then they didn’t have a chance in hell of replicating Daddario anyway.

There are funny snarks on the Facebook with people already screaming they won’t watch it and how they like how they cast Jenna Ortega and that unless they make all the kids black and all the teachers trans they must be

(poorly) was that there are seven books (written by her) but eight movies because they made two movies out of book number seven.

The way that read to me was that there were eight books but only seven
written by Rowling. That's likely not what was meant but the sentence
structure doesn't make that clear. Hell, another reading is that there
were only two movies made, each based off the eighth book. So the
first seven books were never made into movies.

The Hermione in the some productions of "Cursed Child" stage play were definitely black though, as was Hermione and Ron's child. <https://hips.hearstapps.com/digitalspyuk.cdnds.net/17/21/1495478201-screen-shot-2017-05-22-at-192212.png>

    <snip>

There were eight Harry Potter films and a series of three Fantastic
Beasts movies-- a spinoff of the original IP. Author J.K. Rowling wrote
seven Harry Potter books; the eighth book in the series was split into
    two movies.

The Harry Potter series curently consists of eight books, so far ...
seven written by JK Rowling and then the book version of the "Harry
Potter and the Cursed Child" stage play (supposedly co-written by
Rowling, but more likely she just oversaw the project and had the final approval). There is no movie of that eighth book, yet.

As for the article, either it is obviously lazy rushed 'journalism'
and/or created by useless AI (Assified Ignorance).
