From Executive Producers Kevin Costner and Doris Kearns Goodwin, KEVIN COSTNER'S THE WEST provides a fresh look at the epic history of the
American West by delving into the desperate struggle for the land itself
and how it still shapes the America we know today. This new,
eight-part series takes viewers on a journey through the birth of the

this series spans a century of pivotal events. By presenting these

Murder, Lies and Marriage          (movie)         (8 pm, LMN)

After mistakenly being imprisoned for five long years for a murder she didn’t commit, Nicole is released from prison and immediately tries to reconnect with her now twelve-year-old daughter, Sarah. Her ex-husband,
Jack, is dating former model Gwen, who has closely bonded with Sarah.
Nicole begins to suspect that Jack may have been behind the crime for
which she’d been blamed and that both her daughter and Jack’s new girlfriend may be in danger. Stars Nadia Adelay, Jess Matney, Mia Romay, Kelly Sullivan [Nicole] and Alex Trumble.

Interesting. When Lifetime starting advertising that a Kelly Sullivan
flick was coming up, I just assumed it was the 2024 flick she did that
was already on Tubi ("Deadly Justice"). But, nope - this is an entirely
    new LMN flick.

    Mountainhead              (movie)           (8 pm, HBO)

Written and directed by 'Succession' creator Jesse Armstrong,
'Mountainhead' is another darkly comedic examination of greed and
ambition among the wealthy elite. The HBO original film (and feature directorial debut from Armstrong) finds a group of billionaire friends gathering at a mountain retreat in the midst of a global financial
crisis. Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Ramy Youssef, and Cory Michael
Smith head a cast that also includes Andy Daly, Ali Kinkade, and Hadley Robinson. It's a quick turnaround for a film that only finished shooting
last month, but today just happens to be the cutoff date for Emmy eligibility.
    1h 48m.

Interesting backstory, but I'm not interested in the film.

The Thirteenth Wife: Escaping Polygamy (Part 1)         (movie) (8 pm,
    Lifetime Channel)

her past threatening to consume her new life, she is forced to face her
role in the cult’s crimes and must decide whether to expose the truth or retreat into silence. Stars Felicity Huffman [present-day Rena], Olga
Petsa [younger Rena] and Eric Johnson [Ervil LeBaron].

Oh, it's a two-parter? That may kill my interest in watching this then.

Sitting Bull [new] (9 and 10 pm, two episodes, History Channel)

The four-hour documentary series offers an overarching exploration of
the remarkable life and accomplishments of the fiercely brave yet humble Lakota chief from his origins as a tribal warrior, to his involvement in defending native lands, to his leadership in guiding the Lakota people through a tumultuous time in American history.

Chief Sitting Bull, Chief of the Sioux Nation and Hunkpapa Lakota Tribe vs Colonel Nelson Miles, Commander, 1st Division, II Corps, United States Army

MILES: Sitting Bull requested this council. We await his words.

SITTING BULL: Take your soldiers out of here. They scare the game away.

MILES: Very well, sir. Tell me then, how far away should I take my men?

SITTING BULL: You must take them out of our lands.

MILES: What precisely are your lands?

SITTING BULL: These are the lands where my people lived before you whites
    first came.

MILES: I don't understand. We whites were not your first enemies. Why don't
you demand back the land in Minnesota where the Chippewa and others forced you from years before?

SITTING BULL: The Black Hills are sacred land given to my people by
    Wahwontoka.

MILES: How very convenient to cloak your claims in spiritualism. And what
would you say to the Mormons and other who believe that their god has given to them Indian lands in the West?

SITTING BULL: I would say they should listen to Wahwontoka.

MILES: No matter what your legends say, you didn't sprout from the plains like the spring grasses and you didn't coalesce out of the ether. You came out of the Minnesota woodlands armed to the teeth and set upon your fellow man. You massacred the Kiowa, the Omaha, the Ponca, the Oto, and the Pawnee without mercy, and yet you claim the Black Hills as a private preserve bequeathed to you by the Great Spirit.

SITTING BULL: And who gave us the guns and powder to kill our enemies? And who traded weapons to the Chippewa and others who drove us from our home?

MILES: Chief Sitting Bull, the proposition that you were a peaceable people before the appearance of the white man is the most fanciful legend of all. You were killing each other for hundreds of moons before the first white stepped foot on this continent. You conquered those tribes, lusting for their game and their lands, just as we have now conquered you for no less noble a cause.

SITTING BULL: This is *your* story of my people!

MILES: This is the *truth*, not legend!
