• NPR and Eating the Bugs

From BTR1701@21:1/5 to All on Sun Apr 27 17:36:44 2025
Two headlines from NPR illustrating exactly why they need to be defunded of
    all taxpayer dollars.

In 2019, the proposed government-enforced bug diet was all the rage among the Left. By 2025, the very thing which NPR promoted and advocated has somehow morphed into an unhinged "right-wing racist conspiracy theory".

NPR: Look at all these tasty bugs for you to eat!

NORMALS: I will not be eating ze bugs.

NPR: No one's suggesting you eat bugs, you racist whack-job!

I don't know if edible bugs was a product ready for the supermarkets and restaurants but I *do* know that our federal government spent millions subsidizing a startup that was supposed to produce edible bugs. The
startup went belly up before it had a market-ready product.

"'I will not eat the bugs' became a meme on 4chan and emerged in
conservative talk shows and political speech. But why has it
gained traction? In this week's Code Switch, Gene Demby and NPR
reporter Huo Jingnan dive into the sprawling conspiracy theory
behind it. Proponents of the theory lean on the anti-semitic
trope that 'global elites' have a plot to control the masses — in
this case under the guise of climate change solutions — by
    forcing them to eat bugs."

Whew, we're lucky they exposed that. Democracy preserved!
If we let the right wing conspiracy get away with talking about

And yet it was NPR themselves who were pushing the bug diet in 2019, which means it was neither a conspiracy theory, nor was it right-wing. It may very well have had its roots in racism, however, since the Left is usually guilty
of that which they decry the loudest.

And since when does "global elite" = Jew?

Most of the elites who were pushing crap like the bug diet and the "you'll own nothing and be happy" plan, like Klaus Schwab and the WEF, aren't Jews, so why is referring to them as "global elites" anti-semitic?

Or is that just another media tactic? Pretend "elites" is a code word for "Jews" so that anyone who refers to them can be smeared and discredited as anti-semitic whether they actually are or not.

Whew, we're lucky they exposed that. Democracy preserved!

As the Climate Cult's obsession to make bugs a part of your diet proceeds apace, you need to carefully check the ingredients on your packaged food from now on. Recognizing that most people won't appreciate a "Now more crickets!" label on their Oreo packages, they're just going to start adding in the bug parts along with all the other incomprehensibly-named chemical additives in
the small print on the back:

    Grillodes sigillatus (dried crickets)
Tenebrio monitor (whole and ground meal worms)
Locusta migratory (whole and ground grasshoppers)
Acheta domesticus (whole and ground crickets)

All have been approved as food additives by the FDA.

Why would anyone deliberately put rat hair in food? It sounds more like
they can't get a handle on the problem, so they're giving up and listing
    the contaminant as an ingredient.

No, when it comes to the rat hairs, they're not listed on the packaging as an ingredient. It's just a small allowance the FDA makes for the occasional unavoidable mistake. It's a threshold that's allowed below which a processing plant won't get fined for contamination.

As the Climate Cult's obsession to make bugs a part of your diet proceeds
apace, you need to carefully check the ingredients on your packaged food
    from
now on. Recognizing that most people won't appreciate a "Now with more >>>> crickets!"
label on their Oreo packages, they're just going to start adding in the >>>> bug
parts along with all the other incomprehensibly-named chemical
    additives in
the small print on the back:

    Grillodes sigillatus (dried crickets)
Tenebrio monitor (whole and ground meal worms)
Locusta migratory (whole and ground grasshoppers)
Acheta domesticus (whole and ground crickets)

All have been approved as food additives by the FDA.

Remember: "We will not eat ze bugs!"

You do know there's long been an acceptable ppm for, e.g., rat hairs...

That's an allowance for mistakes. No one purposely introduces rat hairs as a
food additive, certainly not as part of a quasi-religious political agenda.

Not 'mistakes' so much as unavoidable levels of contamination ...which I assume is what's up with crickets in Oreos?

No, they're specifically designated as food additives, and will be listed
along with all of the other ingredients. Something that is not done with rat hairs.
