• What Did You Watch? 2025-03-23 (Sunday)

From Ubiquitous@21:1/5 to All on Mon Mar 24 04:30:41 2025
    I watched:

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    FAMILY GUY:
"The Chicken or The Meg". When Meg starts dating a chicken she met on a
reality dating show, Peter disapproves of their love, prompting her to move out; saddened by Meg's absence, Peter decides to get her back from the chicken's house.

    GRIMSBURG:
"Daddy Daddy Bang Bang". When his dad returns to town, Flute will do anything he can to keep his idol around, even if that means getting rid of his sibling rivalry - his dad's talking car. That's right. Flute's Dad is basically
Michael Knight and his "step-brother" is KITT. With Flute spending time with his father, it's up to the detectives to teach Stan about the birds and the bees.

    THE GREAT NORTH:
"Bust A Moon Adventure". Moon makes a big decision after clashing with Beef; Judy and Ham hatch a plot to make some extra cash.

    Boat: The Shark Knight

    Wolf's Shirt: Fart School Confidential

"We have a refrigerator, it's called The Outdoors. We also have a
    refrigerator, it's called the refrigerator."

Of course Lone Moose has a convenient law that allows Moon to emancipate himself. And of course Moon learns why that's a bad idea when his friends
join him and eat nothing but junk food and be irresponsible. But I'm 38 and I want that tower of nuggs.

It's a miracle Wolf stayed alive long enough to meet Honeybee. I mean, eating meatballs for two solid months, and the one he puked up was actually a big brown marble?

    KRAPOPOLIS:
"Love Trap, Baby!". Stupe and Ty are invited to a dating competition hosted
by a mysterious princess in search of her partner and Hippo suspects it's a trap; Shlub and Deliria accidentally improve the city in Ty's absence.

Yesterday, I did some household chores (cleaning), and also did work, so
I mostly just left golf and March Madness on in the background. I also
kind of watched "Suits LA" fully for the first time:

    soaps: Fri's ep's.
DOOL - So, EJ's gambit to inject Kristen's crazy mommy with the memory-erasing drug fails after she anticipated this move and threw out
the memory-erasing drug! In response, EJ either murdered her, or
kidnapped her and sent her away, or most likely has her stashed in the
DiMera catacombs! Kristen is irate when she discovers mommy missing...
Tate and Holly "make up", and Tate tells Holly that NuTheresa has
already left town again. Julie comes across Melinda Trask wearing the
Horton diamond necklace, and threatens to have her arrested, and intends
to file a police report after JJ has to decline to arrest Melinda absent
one; Melinda warns Doug that if she goes down, she's taking Doug with her!
GH - Meh - mostly wheel-spinning. Willow declares her intention to
move in with Drew after all, and Nina is just pathetic by refusing to
put her foot down. Both Ava and Portia are desperate - Ava because she's
broke, and Portia because Drew is blackmailing her. Valentin makes a
deal with Jason to give Jason information on Jack Brennan (who wasn't in
this ep); then Valentin wants Alexis to represent him. Lucas tries to
talk Carly out of seeing Brennan, but to no avail.

golf - You got to feel bad for Justin Thomas - for a while during the
last day of the Valspar Championship in St. Pete, it looked like he was
in the driver's seat to win! But Thomas wilted down the stretch, even
bogeying the 18th hole, while Victor Hovland gained at the end,
overtaking Thomas and relegating Thomas to second place.

March Madness - St. Mary's could never catch up to Alabama, who beat St.
Mary's by 14. Colorado St. blew their lead against Maryland. In the
first half, it looked like New Mexico had a chance to beat Michigan St.
    - but as always happens in these cases, New Mexico wilted in the second
half, and lost by 8. Unfortunately, Arizona beat Oregon.
And with these results, and UCLA losing on Saturday, I've mostly
lost interest in the tourney again. :|

Suits LA - So I paid attention to last night's ep. more for the first
time. Stephen Amell plays a jerk, but unlike Harvey Spector who you
still generally wanted to root for, Amell's character is *just* a jerk!
I guess Amell's character was ejected from his old law firm(?), and
so has started his own firm(?), which focuses on "Hollywood law", though
rather than dealing with contracts, Amell is somehow a trial lawyer. He
is defending a Hollywood murder defendant (Kevin Weisman), with a
co-council (Maggie Grace, who still looks pretty great) that he's
brought in, and he's up against a horrible unscrupulous prosecutor-type
    (Sofia Pernas).
There are machinations within Amell's firm, and with his rival one,
though I am less interested in that. (Azita Ghanizada from "Alphas"
seems to be playing the one in charge of Amell's firm's rookie lawyers.)
What's interesting here is that rather than follow "Suits'" old
basic formula of "one-case-per-episode" this show seems to be stringing
one trial over multiple episodes (and maybe over the whole season).
Another interesting difference: "Suits LA" makes the firm's
investigator (Troy Winbush) a major character. On the original "Suits",
    I don't remember there being a main investigator character - indeed, I
want to say multiple investigators came and went on "Suits", and none of
    them were major characters.

Well, yeah. Also, Harvey wore nicer ties.

He's a former prosecutor from New Joisey. Also, asshole celebrities may
    need criminal work.

Uh, Mike touched a keyboard for 30 seconds and had all the information
they needed on their opponent. Also, pre-ex-princess Meghan came up with
a lot of crap. There were occassional investigative guest stars.

    What did you watch?

    I watched:

The Raid (4K disc) 2011 movie written and directed by Gareth Evans. The
movie stars Iko Uwais as a cop in Indonesia who takes part on a raid of
a high rise building that's being run by a drug kingpin but the crooks
who run the building are too much for even the police. Iko and a few
surviving cops then have to fight their way out. The Judge Dredd reboot
had the same plot. The movie holds up great.

The Raid 2 (blu-ray) 2014 sequel written and directed by Gareth Evans.
Picking up where the first movie ends, Iko is recruited by a secret
police task force that is hunting high level criminals who run the city
as well as the crooked cops who help them. They send Iko *deep*
undercover which includes his having to serve 3 years in prison before
he can get out and join the criminal underworld and take then down from
the inside. This movie is awesome and even better than the first one.
One thing that always sort of bugged me is during the three years Iko
was in prison, he was so deep under cover that not even his wife knew
where he was or what he was doing, yet when he gets out of prison he
calls her and she seems to be still faithfully waiting for him. I
wonder, was he getting paid all those years with the checks going to his
wife? Was someone checking in on her and reassuring her, her husband was
still alive? Because that part was extremely unclear! Even the part
about his getting paid was unclear because he was so deep undercover and
they knew the high level cops were crooked, that then needed him off the
    books.

9-1-1 - "Holy Mother of God" - Season 8, episode 11. Bobby has to come
to terms with his estranged mother after getting called out to the mega
church she scams, I mean runs. This episode crossed over with Doctor
Odyssey but by the time I realized there was a second half it was too late.

Reacher (Amazon) - I binged season 2. I hadn't planned on doing that.
I hadn't even planned on watching a single episode, but once I watched
one, I just kept going until I finished out the season. One thing that
sort of bugged me was how Reacher and his team just casually straight up murdered anyone they felt like killing and everyone just kept looking
the other way, while simultaneously Reacher was worried about getting
arrested for assault or other nonlethal offenses. Punching someone in
the face, Reacher has to go into hiding. Shooting or strangling someone
to death then burring their corpses, confess, no one cares. That's our Reacher. Anyway, the season was pretty good. And now I can move on to
    season 3.

Reddit absolutely *hates* season #2 of "Reacher". Personally, while I
thought it was clearly a step down from season #1 (though S1 has a weak
ending IMO), I didn't think it was quite as "awful" as they say it is.

However, they do have a point that season #1 got away from the Man
Against Town(tm!) trope that is the hallmark of Reacher, as season #2
was way too "team oriented", rather than "Reacher takes on everyone!
    (nearly alone!!)".

Meanwhile, I am still mystified why they want to make a spinoff show
premised around Nealy, by far the weakest character in both S1 and S2!
