Joy Behar trashed billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk during Thursday's broadcast of THE VIEW, claiming that he was a "foreign agent" and was "pro-apartheid" and asserting that he was effectively running the
federal government while President Donald Trump took "a nap".
"Elon Musk kisses [Trump’s] butt and strokes his tiny ego, or big ego, whatever it is," Behar began, prompting a smattering of laughter from
the audience. "And he doesn’t get to do-- he can take a nap while the
guy, who was not born in this country who was born under apartheid in
South Africa, so has that mentality going on. He was pro-apartheid, as
I understand it--"
"He is a naturalized citizen," cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out.
"He’s a naturalized citizen," Behar repeated. "Oh, how did he do that?
Did he come over the border legally?"
"This is just perfectly wonderful for Trump," Behar pivoted back to her original point. "He can take a nap and let this foreigner, foreign
agent, you know, an enemy of the United States, do his job."
Fox News commentator Guy Benson pushed back on Behar's comments,
saying, "When it’s illegal aliens, they chant that we are a nation
of immigrants. When it's a naturalized citizen they don't like, this
ugly nativism rears its head."
"At some point, @ABC is going to get sued for something these morons
say. This may be it," Pradheep Shanker added.
Perhaps with an eye toward just such a lawsuit, Behar scrambled to
water down her claims when the show returned from a commercial break.
"I don’t really know for sure if he was [pro-apartheid].
He grew up in that time when [it] was in full blown... He was around at that time.
Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't... don't be suing me, okay, Elon?" Behar
said.

So any white person born in South Africa is de facto pro-apartheid? Every >white person has "that mentality going on"? Jeezus, Joy. You certainly are >letting your bigot flag fly this week, aren't you?

I am pretty sure this actually qualifies as "racism".

Her issue with Musk is apparently that he wasn't born in America.
He's African-American!

Of course
this is Left's hypocrisy on full display: full acceptance of open borders for >those who will flood the country and reshape the electorate, but hostility >toward legal immigrants-- especially those of the hwite kind-- who champion >free speech, innovation, and American strength.

At least she didn't get confused and call him a Canadian which is a citizenship he's entitled to claim (but hasn't) since his mother was a Canadian whose father movied his family to South Africa to pursue his
racial views which were much more sympathetic to the apartheid view of
things than your average mainstream Canadian view.
And yes I >DO< think Behar is often as confused as that...

I don't think Behar gets confused. I think she’s just a liar.

With all due respect "confused", "liar", "stupid" are not mutually
exclusive <grin>
Unless I'm horribly mistaken Donald Trump is about to elect the next
prime minister of Canada - public opinion polls gave a 20 point lead
to one party before Trump launched into Canadian politics with the
other party having a 4-5 point lead in the polls today - which is
election day in Canada.
What Trump said was as good as an endorsement which is not something political leaders should be doing in countries other than their own.
I'll be watching in 7 1/2 hours when the polls close...

I hereby predict that if Carney manages to win, he will never be
re-elected. It's very clear to me that he's just Trudeau with a resume
and that this will soon become apparent to everyone else. Carney is also
a frequent liar. His arrogance is off the charts, which is obvious every
time he has to answer a hard question from the media: he oozes contempt
for them. I think his only motivation for wanting the job is the
prospect of all the money his company, Brookfield, can get from
government contracts.

It should be noted that the chief reason Carney's main rival was
defeated in the recent Canadian election was that his electoral
district was targetted by proportional representation advocates whose
tactic was to register 90+ "candidates" whose names were placed on the
ballot in Poilevre's electoral district.
Apparently the ballot in Poilevre's district was more than 3 feet long
and it's believed many voters were confused even though party
affiliation is shown on Canadian ballots. (It wasn't always and I
remember the election when I was in my early teens and there were two candidates in our district with the same surname and that that evening
when the results were on TV my mother was quite distressed to find she
had mis-remembered and inadvertently voted Communist....)
I don't know how you could legally prevent this though Canada does
have a requirement that candidates file a deposit when filing their nomination papers. This deposit is refunded if the candidate gets more
than a certain percentage (25%? 50%?) of the votes cast for the
winning candidate. I heard about this years ago when my late
grandfather was a federal candidate for one of the major parties but
that was in the 1960s. I know the deposit requirement is still in the elections act but have no idea the amount currently. It's high enough
to discourage most of the nutbars but not serious candidates.
