• Amazing how USENET is dying

From Skeezix LaRocca@21:1/5 to All on Mon May 12 13:20:31 2025
This group, just like many others is all but dead. I don't know if it is
that Corrie has lost popularity, or that people have moved to social
media. This group was very much alive at one time.

It is a bit sad - I still like this way of communicating, but seems
    few others continue to.

A few of us still here but nobody (me included) seems to be starting chats.

    Same here. :-(

BTW for those who were following this thread over time - my unit was not as badly damaged as first feared; most of the irreplacable items survived, and the
insurance paid out cash for those that were ruined. Could have been worse.

    That is good news James.

I agree. I am quite a lurker here, but I have always found it to have a
better sense of community that other methods that have tried to replace it.

My ISP have recently stopped their NNTP service too, so I have had to
sign up with Eternal September, although the retention is fairly short
    in comparison.

I all but abandoned 'current' Coronation Street a while back and now
just watch 'classic' - so I'm always up for a discussion on events of
the past. I was tempted to resurrect old threads from 20years ago :-)

I think it has been more shocking watching this again now - I really
didn't notice the first time around how twisted and manipulating Tracy
was in the run up to this situation.

Not me, doesn't sound like it is available over here, what exactly is it?

I suppose you could call it a repeat - they are re-showing Corrie, and curently it is January 2007. Tracy has just clobbered Charlie the controlling builder and
    killed him, claiming self defence.

Chesney is living with Fiz and maria because les had an affair with Yana while Cilla was claiming she was dying from cancer (she wasn't but saw it as a good way to get sympathy and money for a holiday) and the Connors have just taken over the factory and we first see Carla.

Perhaps you could call it a trip down memory lane lol

    It is that too.

It is also rapidly approaching a point where I stopped watching for a while. We
were, in April 2008, going on a longish holiday. Would be aay the best part of 4
weeks, and I decided to drop Corrie, and Emmerdale, atthe end of storylines, early that year, rather than come back to innumerable recordings, even assuming our box could cope, with otherstuff as well, and then just drop back in when I got back.

But life got in the way, first my daughter boomeranged home due to breaking up with her boyfriend, then my mother-in law died, then my dad got sick and he died
later that year, and then my other daughter was getting married, the house was being extended, and it wasn't until the live episode in December 2010 I returned
( but still not to Emmerdale!).

So I am looking forward now to what I missed! At 10 half hours a week, should be
getting there in a few months.

Wow!  Sure sounds like a plan, lots of watching to do :)

Well, 45 or 50 minutes a day Monday to Friday, as I record and skip ads. Afternoon cup of tea time.:-)
