Even ignoring Hollyweird's egotistical alterations because they know
"better", few books and their corresponding movies / TV shows are ever
the same. Due to the production time for books (written, edited,
printed, shipped), even many books based on a movie/TV show are rarely
    the same.

For example, the novels for most of the Star Wars movies were written
from the scripts and published about the same time as the movie was
released, so the books contain scenes that for various reasons never
made it into the final movie.

Most computer games based on movies / TV shows, and vice versa, are
    barely recognisable drivel.

    According to this:

    - At the screening, Dick and Scott cordially disagreed about the meaning of Blade Runner. The author explained that he conceived the androids as soulless, selfish, homicidal sociopaths who challenge Deckard’s sense of his own humanity. But as Dick
later told Sammon, “Ridley said he regards that as an intellectual idea and he was not interested in making an esoteric film.” Instead, Scott described the replicants more as superheroes who cannot fly. Dick was left speechless.
