  • CBP grabs Nigerian SF author

    There's a report on File 770 that the CBP has grabbed science fiction
    author Oghenechovwe Donald Ekpeki. Going by the comments, it appears no
    one has heard from him for 3 days.

    This is not the first time this has happened to him. He had real trouble
    even getting a visa for Worldcon.

    The visa system is very cumbersome and obscure and there are a lot of
    rules and if you are from a third-world country you pretty much need a specialist lawyer to prevent stuff like this. Even if you're just a
    tourist who wants to come over to see Disneyland.

    He made it back to Nigeria. It could have been worse.
