I've found that when searching for quotes, it's best to strip them to
their core concepts, since it's so easy to rephrase them without knowing
it. I suspect this is what you were thinking of:

Hmm. That line is there, on the 3rd-last page of the book, though it's
not quite the way I seem to remember it. Perhaps my brain has taken
liberties in the course of collapsing the paragraph into a single
sentence, though it's also possible that Robinson was rephrasing some
