Note that the 'left' parties are Labour, the Greens and the Maori
Party.
In terms of whether we have a 'left' or 'right' Government, the key is
always going to be whether National or Labour secure the most party
votes.
This means that if National wish to lead the next Government then the
Coalition needs to take stronger actions than they have taken to date,
and they need to do it ASAP to get the benefits rolling in prior to
the 2026 election. If they fail to do this then we will have a
Government that will be even worse than the last Labour Government.
National criticises the profligate spending of the previous Labour
government, but the Coalition government has not reduced spending -
simply changed what it is spent on. Government debt is still
increasing at an alarming rate. There is no positive trend in sight
for an improving economy because the public service is just as bloated
as ever and the economy is even more dominated by Government spending
than when the current Government took office.
