It is absolutely appropriate. It is not the job of Public Health officials to tell people how to eat.
You will of course disagree but that is all you have, disagreable behaviour.

So I should have included Simeon Brown, but Seymour has been
particularly offensive throughout all of this demonstration of the
coalitions ability to be incompetent and act contrary to contracts for
the purpose of private profit. Making a claim that NZ was unprepared
for a viral pandemic - and ignoring that after the pandemic Shane
Reti reduced staff working on public health / pandemic preparedness.

The coalition was accused of De funding, Destabilising, and
Privatising essential public services for private profit. Worth
    listening right through . . .

No contracts reneged on by the coalition.

    Simply untrue.

What a load of twaddle. It is not the role of civil servants to use
their official status to object to new businesses going through local
body planning approvals. I do not recall ever seeing Health NZ (aka
Te Whatu Ora) making submissions about the opening of a new fast food restaurant.

I applaud anyone in Government taking action on such gross over-reach.
Civil servants are free to submit as private citizens, but that is all
they can do. Any civil servant must follow organisational approvals
prior to speaking as a representative of that organisation, and that
    is simply being reinforced.
