This semms to me to be an idea which is needed.
In recent times whe have had several MPs which have bahaved badly and have >lost the confidence of the public and the public/voters have no easy way of >removing them from the House.
This encourages the bady behaviour to continue.
The people might be more interested, as would the candidates, if "serious >wrongdoing" resulted in a vote to toss the MP out.
Clearly there needs to be a threshold to trigger the recall vote. However >some countries have recall votes so after a discussion on the matter it
could go to the the vote.
Two observations: the articles cited are ten years ago - and relate to
local body elections. In Parliament we have directly elected MPs
(electorate) and indirectly elected MPs (List).
This issue, both for local body and Parliamentary elections, is
covered by having 3-year terms. Those that transgress get subjected
to re-election over a 3-year term so the real baddies, over that time,
get voted out.
