• Brian Tamaki, That Champion Of Freedom

From Lawrence D'Oliveiro@21:1/5 to All on Fri Nov 15 02:21:59 2024
So, the Destiny Church loonies are at it again <https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/auckland-traffic-mayhem-expected-as-brian-tamaki-rally-travels-up-sh1/CUIE3EY5BZGJ5KKOLDCTIRR7OI/>.
This time, Brian Tamaki is saying it should be illegal to fly any flag
other than the official NZ one.

I thought right-wingers were in favour of “personal freedom”? Seems
their idea of “freedom” means “freedom” to agree with them, but not to disagree.

Nope. First of all there are very few right wingers in NZ. My bet is you have never met one.
Secondly, it is left wingers who want to limit personal freedom, part of their desire to control the world. And there are many of them in NZ, you will have met a lot. Typically they are rather dumb.

    What is a "right-winger"?

In Brian Tamaki’s case, somebody who would deny women the right to
abortion. Somebody who thinks of those of the LGBTQ community as less than human. Somebody who doesn’t believe in separation of religion and state.

You wouldn't know a right winger if you saw one. None of those traits are right wing. They are all habits of nasty people.

    Does that describe you, BR?
Why do left wingers so often take umbridge when someone disagrees with them or questions them? Why does it make them nasty, like your unnecessary and abusive question?

Since you have told us that there are no Right wingers in the country,
clearly you are wrong about Tamaki. I suggest however that Tamaki has
been a reasonable successful businessman, selling intangible beliefs
(which just happen to be very cheap to manufacture) for quite a lot of
money, and often to the detriment of those who join his
"congregation". That may of course give him a natural affinity for
the ACT and National Parties, but he does seem to avoid to close an association. His "protest" against anyone flying a flag other than the
NZ flag is clearly a deliberate distraction - he does not want a more
balanced government that may create a better society where religious
leeches are seen more easily for what they are.

It may however be relevant to know if you are a supporter of Bishop
Tamaki, or of the views he apparently has regarding denial of women
having control of their bodies . . . Trump has been a good role model
    for obscure promises.

    and from
    https://www.politicalcompass.org/nz2008

(Do you agree with the relative movements of ACT, National, NZ First,
Labour and Green Parties? - the commentary below the charts may also
    be of interest.)

Various individuals may place political parties at different places on
such a chart - Tony for example has said that there are no right wing
parties in New Zealand; presumably he sees National and possibly also
ACT as either in the centre or slightly left.

As far as Brian Tamaki is concerned, he may see his views on abortion
as more a religious view than a political view, and his advocacy of
denial of abortion as being by divine command rather than his personal authoritarianism; that he appears to support the far right
politically. Divine wisdom is of course convenient for the leader of a religious cult; Tamaki is not a politician in the same sense as the
leaders of our political parties; he leads a religious cult, and his
expression of such beliefs is not seen as being partisan political in
the same way as would be such statements from a member of parliament -
although having said that, anti-abortion views, and the imposition of restrictive laws relating to abortion do not appear to have avoided
Trump being elected President of the USA . . .

You are lazy. Anyone can post links to support any conceivable
argument. If you have an argument, then why not make your own case for
    it?

    Bill.
Bill, there was a direct request for a definition - I gave that.
Quoting sources is not lazy - but accusing others of being lazy
appears to be your trying to avoid the topic.
    He isn't, you are.

Various individuals may place political parties at different places on

    Never mind all that.

Never mind the relevant points about Brian Tamaki?

Thats one way to avoid the question ...

I didn't mention Brian Tamaki, you did.

You are the one avoiding the initial question which is: What is a >>>>>>>>>"right-winger?"

    How about a definition?

    Bill.
Already given - you posted objecting to the links! Remember?

Brian Tamaki is in the Subject of the Thread - on topic by definition. >>>>>>>>Why are you trying to avoid rational discussion, BR?

Brian Tamaki was labeled a "right-winger".

    What is that?

    Bill.

Happy to help, Bill. . .
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, in your case half way to the lowest form
    of
    wit.
    You are ill.
Bill asked for help and I gave it willingly; you are beyond help,
    Tony.
    More abuse then.
You provided zero help, just silly biased politics.
Indeed dictionaries are notorious for their political bias . . .
Some are, some are not. But that is off topic and quite silly of you.
So which of the definitions was biased, or silly, Tony?
