Lead should be Not (not Note).
Common sense says that as a country we should honour agreements and
contracts entered into. And further, that we should honour and work
towards promises made by both major political parties in the past to
do our best to provide equal opportunity to all children, to counter
poverty and deprivation, and to treat all New Zealanders as equal
before our laws.
Instead we have a government that has weakened laws about the
standards of rental housing = permitting overcrowding, poor
ventilation, inadequate insulation and leaking buildings. We have a
government that removed people from motels being used as emergency accommodation - and now there are 200 children that they either do not
know where they went or at least they are not admitting that they know
. . .
Recently a three year unheralded project by the police resulted in the
arrest of most members of the Comanchero Gang. No acknowledgement of
that good work from the Government, but yesterday a Minister,
Goldsmith, in introducing legislation to ban the wearing of gang
patches, lied in saying that under the previous government gangs had
grown, but that under the current government it was reducing - using
the "evidence" that the police were changing a list of present and
past gang members to a smaller list of just proven current members!
Lies, lies, lies - it would serve them right if a future government
classified a National party membership pin as being a gang symbol.
They well knew that gang numbers had largely been increasing due to
Australia deporting a lot of people that had been gang members, and
that the Comanchero gang had resulted from those "501" deportees from Australia. What is essential is that we hold our current government
accountable for their lies, their rushing bills through parliament
that do not stand up to public standards of decency - and that we
reject their inherent racism. What is also essential is that we see
articles like the one referred to by Tony as dishonest partisan
propaganda that is peddling extremist views to confuse those who have
little intelligence or personal integrity.
