New Speed Cameras Coming In

From Lawrence D'Oliveiro@21:1/5 to All on Fri Mar 8 01:18:45 2024

New cameras can not only measure your speed, they can use infrared
imaging to determine what the occupants of the vehicle are up to,
e.g. whether they have seat belts on or are using a phone <https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/first-of-its-kind-high-tech-halo-camera-will-only-target-traffic-speed-for-now/ZHURL7XZJFGY7HWNPVDA7H5SN4/>.

These cameras are now being operated by NZTA, not the Police. And they
cannot legally be used to check car licences or WoFs.
