Flow batteries have been available for quite some time. I didn't read
the article, but looking at the orange colour of the unit featured it's
likely to be a zinc-bromide. The thermal stability and long life of flow batteries means they always should the first choice, especially for
utility sized installations.
IMNSHO vehicles with LiB's should pay an upfront bond fee to pay for disposal/recycling because they going to become major environmental
problem when dumped.
