  • gated mailing list in control newsgroup

    Hello!

    I saw something strange.
    Does anybody know why this message is in the "control" newsgroup on E-S?

    Hi Marco,

    Does anybody know why this message is in the "control" newsgroup on E-S?

    I bet it is because of the following header fields:


    Control: reassign -1 vtk9
    Control: affects -1 opm-grid
    Control: tags -1 -ftbfs

    During the gatewaying, they should be rewritten to X-Control header
    fields. Otherwise, a news server may think they are control articles.

    I've just checked the mailpost program shipped with INN to gateway mailing-lists, and it normally does that. I assume eternal-september
    uses a custom script.

    Yes, you're totally right!
    I've mailed the owner of the gateway to make him aware of that in case
    he did not.
