Hello,
I'm running a non-commercial news server -- news.chmurka.net. The server
runs since 2005 and provides Polish users with access to pl.* and alt.pl.* newsgroups (free of charge -- it's a hobby project, my only goal is to
help keeping Polish part of the Usenet alive).
Recently I decided to move the server to another, bigger machine, and
start providing access also to BIG8 groups.
I'd also like to have more feeds, because one feed (aioe) went offline and another one (a major Polish newsserver, news.neostrada.pl) is closing down
with the end of April. My current feeds, except these two:
- newsfeed.icm.edu.pl
- tnetconsulting.net
- news.bbs.nz
Server focuses on text groups (I don't carry binaries) and runs cleanfeed. Users need to have an account to post, and accounts are added manually by
me after a candidate fills the registration form.
Server is not anonymous, it adds Injection-Info header to all posts.
I currently have 150 users, but I expect the influx of a couple more (it
always happens when a big Polish newsserver closes down -- people seek alternatives, and there are less and less of them in this part of the Internet).
Some technical details:
- Website (in Polish):
http://news.chmurka.net/
- Software: INN 2.7.0
- Path: news.chmurka.net
- IP: 176.56.237.216 (but I prefer individual DNS entries, added per feed)
- Groups: pl.*,alt.pl.*,comp.*,humanities.*,misc.*,news.*,rec.*,sci.*,soc.*,talk.*
If someone wants to peer with me, I'll be happy to add some feeds -- just
drop me an email or post in this thread and I'll email you.
My email: gof-news (at) chmurka (dot) net
Thank you and have a nice day!
