• I need a four-letter abbreviation for newsgrouper (for the archives)

From Marion@21:1/5 to All on Mon Feb 24 04:53:00 2025
I'm always striving to set up stuff (that I can) for everyone.
Particularly easily remembered URLs to the web archives such as:
    <https://tinyurl.com/news-admin-peering>

We already have a four-letter abbreviation for Nova-BBS (i.e., nova).
But what's a good four-letter easily remembered one for newsgrouper?

The reason I need it is I'm creating an archive reference that EVERYONE can
use so it must make sense and yet be easily remembered by your mother.

    Newsgrouper is too long (IMHO).
    As is grouper (IMHO).
And "News" is too generic (although it might be the best after all).

    Any suggestions?

ounds like newsgroup. I'd we should stress the ``group/er/''. So I
suggest we think of newsgrouper as just ``grouper'' and then a 4-letter
could be grpr. If beginning with an n is necessary, then perhaps ngpr.

Thanks. I'm working on it. It will be a few days as it takes time to set
this up for everyone so that it's *easiest* to remember.

This is my third time doing this, but it's for everyone, not just for me.
    So it's worth the effort.

I'll respond when I have the nucleus set up for folks to test.
