give a shit about the needs of those who won't use a decent newsreader.

I have seen quite a few na�ve new users trying to get to grips with
Usenet. IMO it would be a pity if they were put off before they get

all sorts of various crosspost rules installed.

And at a guess (I don't know a thing about INN), I
suspect there is a server-wide limit that can be
set somewhere too.

For example Paolo turned off crossposts to soc.*
because 25% of the content in soc.* was crossposts
designed to rile up the people in the groups. And so
one of his rules involves soc.* .

One set of groups, needs a Followup Header set, in order
for the posting of the reply article to be accepted.

But usually, news servers, in their Terms Of Service web
page, indicate what the server wide limit is. That
suggests to me, there's some preference at the server
level, and after CleanFeed.

Just about any admin listening in on this group,
is likely to be able to answer the question. Because
at some point, the administrators have been "customer-tested".

this not a suitable case for peer pressure to be applied?

crossposts to >10 groups are acceptable?

I just read Timo's announcement in news.admin.peering that >>>news.freedyn.de was taken off line at the end of June 2022.

And so another abused server goes dark, what a shame.
I hope the abuser is pleased with himself.

The abuser should be put in prison in a dark cell.

Unless you care to be cell mates with him, you'd be wise to stop making outrageous suggestions that apply equally to yourself.

news.freedyn.de was taken off line at the end of June 2022.

And so another abused server goes dark, what a shame.
I hope the abuser is pleased with himself.

Until Timo made the announcement, I had no idea he wasn't actually administering the News site but had inherited it from someone else. The
floods shocked me because Timo has been around for a very long time and
had a very good reputation.

I guess, but there ends up being no effective difference. With 20/20
hindsight, he should have refused to take over the News site he had no
time to administer. Unfortunately the potential for abuse is so great
that News sites always require active administration.
