WLM on Windows 8.1

Recently I have been getting SPAM which looks to be from a harvested
address book. That is, the name of the originator is known to me.

The originator email address is not correct.

Deleting these emails seems to take a very long time; this is a worry in
case there is something exploiting a weakness in WLM.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Oops, had Thunderbird on the brain. For compacting WLM:

Have it set to compress each time it closes.
