If you mean "spread axles" instead of "spreader axles"
then it is because
you can go 40,000 pounds of weight on spread axles (20,00 per axle) where tandems can only go up to 34,000 pounds of weight.
But the spread axle trailers are harder to backup because you can't be sure on where the pivot point is going to be unless if you can dump the air in
one of the axles.

That was just a typo.
