Google Groups has this message for Usenet users:

Effective February 15, 2024, Google Groups will no longer support new
Usenet content. Posting and subscribing will be disallowed, and new
content from Usenet peers will not appear. Viewing and searching of
historical data will still be supported as it is done today.

The trolls who have worked so hard over the years to bring usenet down
to their gutter level can add this as a feather in their caps.

"Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) defines several distinct offenses related to aliens. Subsection 1324(a)(1)(i)-(v) prohibits alien smuggling, domestic transportation of unauthorized aliens, concealing or harboring
unauthorized aliens, encouraging or inducing unauthorized aliens to
enter the United States, and engaging in a conspiracy or aiding and
abetting any of the preceding acts. Subsection 1324(a)(2) prohibits
bringing or attempting to bring unauthorized aliens to the United States
in any manner whatsoever, even at a designated port of entry. Subsection 1324(a)(3)."

This could be for the better. Google for many years was unwilling to do anything about spam coming from their service. It was almost as if they
wanted it to be that way.

It's interesting to go through their archives going back decades and
observe how intelligent, articulate and informed the posters were in the
early part of the century and watch that caliber of posts decline as (presumably) paid trolls badgered posters who were against open borders, massive immigration, sanctuary cities and lying politicians into
    abandoning usenet.

It's like how CB Radio went to shit immediately after the FCC no longer required passing an exam to get a CB license and how newspapers in the
U.S. became trashy propaganda pieces as billionaires and hedge funds
bought them up. Formerly great newspapers like the Washington Post, the
L.A. Times and Chicago Tribune went into decline along with magazines
    like the Atlantic.
