I thought Thunderbird(19) was the Mozilla Newsreader(1) but you list
them separately. Is there another Mozilla Newsreader?

The stat tool of my newsreader reads the headers of the articles and
gets all this information. My guess is the two listed aricles as
Thunderbird must be older versions which identified itself in the
User-Agent header that way OR it somehow focused on Thunderbird and
skipped over Mozilla. In any case you can add that to the Mozilla
    group if you like.

I am not an expert, so take this with a grain of salt. Both Thunderbird
and Mozilla, are open source groups. They have separate websites now
for the most part. Thunderbird as a client uses large amounts of the
source code built around the web browser Mozilla provides. People think
they are one and the same group, but they're really not.
I use Betterbird, another software very similar to Thunderbird, based on
all the same code, open source, and free also. It would also be
considered as a Mozilla offshoot and the user agent in the header looks
    like this: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:102.0)
    Gecko/20100101 Betterbird/102.7.0

So if your tool would pick out Mozilla as my user agent, it needs some tweaking.

My newsreader Xananews cannot be tweaked. It is not under production
anymore and I’m not a developer.

Hopefully you can garner some useful information from the monthly stats. However if these minor flaws are annoyances to people here I could just
stop posting the stats. Give me a sense of the group.

Do not stop it under any circumstances!
I find it very useful for years now.
BTW: Thank you for your reliable service.

One day not very far down the road Arlen/Ragnussen will die from

    I don't have a problem with it.

But you'd better run this by nospam, to be sure he and apple
    corporation are OK with it.

We don't want anyone to have a shit hemorrhage over user agent
    minutia in a usenet group.

Most people don't seem to realize the headers are almost completely
meaningless so it's not worth much trouble to bother analyzing them.

Every non-injected header is completely in your control at all times
(if you're intelligent enough to understand how nntp works, that is).

Analyzing headers is like analyzing wrapping paper in terms of trying to discern something of value - when the real value is in the message body.

stop posting the stats. Give me a sense of the group.

I find them interesting and don't really care much about what it
    says about the client used.

I contributed 12 posts to this hellhole? Egads!

How many listed above are Arlen’s deluded sockpuppets? Smells like the inside of a forgotten laundry hamper in here.

    Egads indeed!

I myself am credited with 18 articles, approximately 16 of which were
posted by Mr Socks & Co.

So if your tool would pick out Mozilla as my user agent, it needs some
    tweaking.

My newsreader Xananews cannot be tweaked. It is not under production
anymore and I’m not a developer.

Hopefully you can garner some useful information from the monthly stats. However if these minor flaws are annoyances to people here I could just
stop posting the stats. Give me a sense of the group.

Please keep it up. It's useful, even if it's not 100% accurate wo everyone should be aware of.

I'm with Bernd for the op to keep it up as is as long as he can.

Likewise with the op's similar summaries to a.h.r although that ng went
south long ago due to trolls taking it over with political commentary.
