It’s for the people who camp out overnight in front of the Apple Store in order to be the first.

    You are behind the curve.

Always adding purposefully helpful on-topic yet well-balanced value...

At over a thousand bucks (with typical sales tax in the USA) I suspect
Apple marketing has aimed it at the brand loyalists or early adopters who
want to brag about having a new iPhone in between pro/max/ultra frills.

    What's nice about it?
    Dunno.

Maybe we can compare it to the $949 Samsung Galaxy S25 at the same price?

(Actually, Android will always cost less due to vastly lower TCO/TOC...)
(Plus you can't compare functionality since iOS lacks so much of it.)

    What's that supposed to mean?

Plus, it hasn't been a thing in at least 10 years.

Apple is slowly feeding the "pr" to generate buzz for hte iPhone 17, where
this 'leak' today fits the premise that Apple owners are herd animals...

*A new survey has found that nearly seven in ten iPhone owners*
*in the United States plan to upgrade to an iPhone 17 model*
    <https://www.macrumors.com/2025/09/01/nearly-70-of-users-plan-to-upgrade-to-iphone-17/>

"According to the data, 68.3% of current ‌iPhone‌ users intend
to purchase an ‌iPhone 17‌ model at launch, marking an increase
from 61.9% recorded ahead of the iPhone 16 launch in 2024."

    As for the foldable iPhone...
"The standard ‌iPhone 17‌ is the choice for 16.7% of respondents,
while 13.5% expressed interest in the all-new iPhone 17 Air,
which is expected to feature an ultra-thin design. Only 3.3%
of respondents indicated they are holding out specifically
for a foldable ‌iPhone‌, which Apple has yet to release."

Given the fact iPhone hardware is utter garbage, it's not surprising
"Battery life emerged as the most important upgrade driver, with
53.% of respondents citing it as their top reason for upgrading."

Lol. How is a survey by a third company an Apple "leak". You're
    desperate...

I love when you Apple trolls use my own words (like "desperate") which
shows you have a low IQ because you are herd animals who can only copy.

Nonetheless, if you think Apple marketing doesn't feed the PR mill just
before new releases, then you don't understand how marketing works.

    As for the foldable iPhone...
"The standard ‌iPhone 17‌ is the choice for 16.7% of respondents,
while 13.5% expressed interest in the all-new iPhone 17 Air,

of respondents indicated they are holding out specifically
for a foldable ‌iPhone‌, which Apple has yet to release."

How can 13.5% be interested in a model that hasn't been announced,
advertised or any official details otherwise shared? The survey has either targeted very tech savvy people or it is meaningless.

You are thinking like an adult, which is good, Chris. It's all bullshit PR. Apple is feeding the rumor mill to generate buzz before they release it.

Given the fact iPhone hardware is utter garbage, it's not surprising
"Battery life emerged as the most important upgrade driver, with
53.% of respondents citing it as their top reason for upgrading."

    And yet...

"When asked to choose between device thinness and battery capacity, 47.5%
of respondents said they would accept a shorter battery life in exchange
    for a thinner design."

Clearly ppl don't care about battery life. Which is daft in my book.

    Then there's:

"Almost half of iPhone users (49 percent) say nothing about Android appeals to them"

    Plus:

"73 percent say they’re more satisfied with iPhones today than in past years;"

Yup. It was garbage. My point was that Apple has nothing to feed the PR
rumor mill with but this kind of garbage. It's classic Apple marketing.

Its for the people who camp out overnight in front of the Apple Store in order to be the first.

Apple isn't stupid. Apple knows their iPhone is made out of garbage, but
they have the finest marketing organization in the world to generate buzz.

To wit, this is more of the crap that Apple marketing is foisting upon us.
*Apple might have good news on iPhone 17 pricing*
    <https://9to5mac.com/2025/09/02/apple-might-have-good-news-on-iphone-17-pricing-per-report/>

What happens is Apple marketing digs up all these PR "leads" and feeds them
to the Apple media who is happy to get the free leads to write the stories.

"In a research note seen by 9to5Mac, the firm forecasts
surprisingly good news for iPhone 17 pricing."

You can rest assured Apple is feeding these media outlets their news.

BTW, given the iPhone is more than 50% pure profit, only a fool would pay
what Apple charges - but that's the whole point of having the best
    marketing in the world.

Women thought they were "liberated" by buying Virginia Slims, remember?
Apple marketing could sell cancer sticks to a comatose cancer patient.

    They're that brilliant.

    No. One quite literally cannot.

The interest might be small, but if there were no interest, you could
    not be curious.

What a shining example of journalistic bullshit referring to a device
not yet released in the present tense:

"The iPhone 17 has an elegant premium build."

    Should be:

"The iPhone 17 is rumoured to have an elegant premium build. "

    And so on.
