I fully agree with you, but find this a losing battle. <S>
It doesn't matter. I've found many other groups where there are more
people who are:
-polite
-humble and/or genuinely subject matter experts (and not snide about it)
-can talk about a shortcoming of iPhones v. Android w/o making it a
black and white battle for the souls of the human race
-broader range of valuable inputs and insights
-no trolls (not very long anyway)
-no moderation delay - but a-holes get ejected within hours if not minutes >>
So I tell myself at least once per week not to bother coming here ...
and one day (probably soon) I will heed my own advice. And by "here"
I mean usenet (I use about 6 NG's).
Same, because the signal to noise ratio here is substandard due to the unchecked trolling activity. Look at the group's current activity as an example.
Well, hate to chide you, but you respond to them a lot (I do too - just
not much) and that is their bread and butter.
Reddit is a vast area and it's hard to find "the right place" (I don't
spend enough time on it, so hard to find "the right place").
You have some control over what shows up in your Home feed on Reddit. So
your place can look however you want in that respect. And there are moderators (though that can cut both ways).
Doesn't it always? Stiff moderation can kill a groups as easily as trolls.
That's what's been pleasant on the Telegram group I'm in - so far
everyone is cool and polite - don't really know "who" moderates it.
(But they are there - and there are rules).
Yep, looking like December on I will be absent - maybe check in in 6
months...
