Hello,
Is there a way to tell iPhone (e.g., 12 mini) not to fast charge its
battery via its iOS v17.5.1?
No, not using the OS.
Take a USB-A to Lightning Cable and cut it in half. For the D0 and D1
wires going to the Lightning end, put in a voltage divider on each pin
using a 22KΩ & 33KΩ resistor (22KΩ from D0 to ground, 33KΩ from D0 to
+5V, 22KΩ from D1 to ground, 33KΩ from D1 to +5V). Do not reconnect the
D0 and D1 pins to the end going to the USB-A plug. Reconnect the +5V and
ground wires between the USB-A and Lightning ends of the cable. Now you
will have 2.0V on D0 and D1 and the iPhone will charge at 500mA. Use
heat shrink tubing to do a neat job.
