Apple forced to lock down App Store in China, VPN loophole won't work https://www.techspot.com/news/100368-new-chinese-law-forces-apple-lock-down-regional.html

The lockdown is due to China's Ministry of Industry and Information
Technology (MIIT) requiring apps to possess a valid Internet Content
Provider (ICP) filing number. To get an ICP number from the MIIT, the app
maker must have a physical presence in China

It's an evil empire. Can't expect much else.

I do wonder if this is also to diminish the Apple brand there and
enhance Chinese phone brands that have good ties to Chinese app makers.

Peak China happened while everyone was watching the pandemic.

China's economic zenith is passed. Demographics and debt will drag
    China down.

    India will explode economically.
