Hello,
Is it normal for Apple's old 18W AC power charger wart plug to get hot
when charging an old iPhone 11 Pro Max?
One man's hot is another man's warm. Do you know the temperature at the surface? A non contact thermometer would be useful for this. Offhand, anything under 70°C is of no concern (my opinion).
One aspect of Apple's wall warts is the finish. Smooth white plastic is
not a great thermal dissipator/radiator.
IAC, these devices protect against overload, so there is likely no issue.
