  • iphone 13 camera app question

    Having just moved to a 13 from an XR I notice a slight annoyance in the
    camera app.

    In the 13 the app shows the photo frame surrounded by "black" bars. Those
    bars are semi-transparent showing what seems to be more of what the CCD can see, however, the taken photo never contains that "extra" view. Why does it
    do that and can I get a way to get the extra widescreen pixels? 16:9 mode doesn't fully do it.

    I never saw this issue with my XR.

    I am thinking that what you want to do will only work in panorama view. This
    is from the apple support page:

    "Turn View Outside the Frame off and on

    On iPhone11models, iPhone12 models, iPhone13 models, and iPhone14 models, the camera preview displays content outside the frame to show you what can be captured by using another lens in the camera system with a wider field of
    view. To turn off this display, go to Settings> Camera, then turn off View Outside the Frame.”
