Am I missing any good ideas?
Unfortunately, it appears I have the problem many seem to have where
dark mode randomly inserts itself on my homepages. the individual apps
are ok, just the homepages.

some webpages check for dark mode and display accordingly.
unfortunately, not all do.
fortunately, there are third party extensions to mitigate the problem.

OK, I used the wrong word. I meant to say home SCREEN, and not
homepage. The phone unlocks in dark mode. Once in anything, it's fine.
I Tried all the suggested fixes, about 7 of them, and none work. None were needed according to the settings. Phone shows it is in Dark Mode Off. Did the hard restart, and it worked to restore to dark mode off, but
didn't stick. About an hour later it was back to dark, even though no settings were changed and are still set as off.
Only option I've seen left to try is a reset. That sucks.
From what I've read, this happens to a lot of people, for some time
now. Apple obviously knows about it and you would think they could fix it. For now I'll wait until the next update to see if that cures it. If not, I guess I'll have to do a reset. Crap.
In the end, I went ahead and did a reset. First time I had ever needed
to do one on any phone I had. Always had plenty of backups, but never a problem that required using it. Takes a little bit of time, but not all that difficult. It did fix the switching to dark mod problem, and that
is put to bed.

Well that sucks. Had to delete and reinstall an app today (myQ) that
was giving double notices for the last couple days for some reason. Only thing I saw to fix it was delete app and reinstall. Did that and asked updates to do it's thing for 7 apps needing it. Clicked done and I'll
be damned the dark mode was back on the homescreen. It's obviously a software issue and something you'd think they could figure out what the
cause was. Since I never use dark mode at all, and don't like it, I
wish there was a solid way to eliminate it from available options.
For now, the phone is updating, (16.4.1 I think) and we'll see if that
fixes it or I have to do another reset. Really annoying problem.
