More and more younger people are answering the phone without saying
'hello' and simply waiting until the person on the other line does so
    first

[ video of old person talking about how people answer phones and the
vague threat that entails to employers ]

What fucking bullshit. How people answer the phone for themselves and
how they answer the phone when employed to answer the phone are
different and that makes no attempt to bridge that divide.

That was a FT "me too" report, August 15, 2025, which reiterated/used
    this article:

Gen Z doesn't want to say 'hello' when answering the phone. I'm
    concerned.

I'm surprised younger people have time to even answer their
phones. Any time I see someone with a phone in their hand
they're usually busy watching TikTok videos or playing games.
Seeing someone actually talking to somebody else on one is a
    rare occurrence these days.
