MyNote - The T-Borg has said for years that NATO countries need to
spend more on defense. And in effect this means buy more US products.
His "thinking" will not work as planned. A predictable outcome where
European countries produce their own equipment.

Yet given Donald Trump's strong emphasis on "America first", it is
unlikely that he will be happy with European NATO members choosing
Saab, or indeed any other European defense firm over US rivals.

This is the truth! It could very well be that he adds a requirement that
not only do the EU countries need to spend 5% or so of their budgets on
useless weapons, they have to buy them from the US. Let's see!

I am happy that Trumps behavior has reignited the interest in Sabbs
fighter jet program among the politicians. It has been proposed that it
should be scrapped, but now Trump has breathed new life into it! =)
