Apple owes billions in back taxes over Ireland state aid rule break
Final judgment handed down by Court of Justice of the European Union
Following an eight-year legal tussle, Europe's highest court has ruled
in a "final judgment" that Apple benefited from massive tax breaks
after Ireland contravened EU state aid rules.
All those years back in 2016, the European Commission (EC) said that a
tax deal between Apple and Ireland was in breach of the European
Union's state aid laws and demanded the corporation cough up E13
billion ($14.3 billion) in back taxes.
