Stephen King gives blunt three-word response after discovering Florida
banned 23 of his books in schools

Twenty-three of King's novels have been banned from schools in the US
state thanks to a 2022 legislation signed by Ron DeSantis

Stephen King has given a blunt three word response to discovering that
23 of his books have been banned from school libraries in Florida, a
law which is now being challenged by six major book publishers.

In 2022, Florida governor Ron DeSantis signed a landmark legislation
that targeted books which included any sexually explicit material,
following complaints from conservative group Moms for Liberty.

The law was brought into effect in July 2023 and has seen noteworthy
classics such as Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and The Adventures
of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain all removed from elementary, middle and
high school libraries. Even non-fiction books like The Diary of a
Young Girl by Anne Frank has also been banned.

    What the fuck?

There are voters who have not internalized this Florida law is just a

Ahh brings back memories from my youth. I think I was around 12 or 13 when
I found a Stephen King book in the school library and it was quite good (I still think I have my own copy of the book somewhere).

Then, in swedish class, we were supposed to write a story, and inspired by
my recent reading of Stephen King, I wrote a gory horror story.

The teacher was furious and called my parents saying writing these kind of stories was completely unacceptable, and I was scolded by my parents as
    well.

So that probably stopped an aspiring author right in his tracks. ;)

Jokes aside, from that point on, I only wrote the bare minimum when it
came to writing stories in school. My creative output (which was never
shown to teachers or parents) came during my pen and paper roleplaying
    games.

Ergo... imagine how peaceful life would have been with some good old
    censoring! ;)

    Where a written/spoken language existed/exists, I believe censoring
has existed. Where religion is practiced, the amount of censoring is
dependent upon a given religion...some more, and some less.

This is the truth! Let's work together to lessen the influence of censors
and organized religion. I think that will be a net benefit to mankind.
