Billions of Social Security numbers exposed: Here's how you can
    protect yourself

    Aug. 16, 2024 at 10:51 a.m. ET

Nearly 3 million records of names, birthdates and Social Security
numbers have reportedly been compromised in a major breach of personal
data, putting people at risk of identity theft and scams.

A hacking group called USDoD stole the records of 2.9 billion people
from National Public Data, a background-check company, according to a
lawsuit earlier reported by Bloomberg Law. According to the report,
the breach occurred in April and includes full names, current and past addresses, Social Security numbers, information regarding relatives,
and other personal data related to people living in the U.S., Canada
    and the U.K.

Find out if your Social Security number was included in last week's
    massive data breach
    ...
    ...
How can I find out if my Social Security number was part of the
    breach?

Pentester, a cybersecurity firm, has set up a tool to let you see if
your data was part of the breach. Use a web browser to navigate to npd.pentester.com and enter your first and last name and birth year.
You'll see a list of breached accounts, including the last four digits
of the leaked Social Security numbers.

2.9 billion? The US only has 335 million people; where are these extra
    2.6 billion numbers coming from?

Total US might be around 500 million (dead/living)....Canada, not many there...unknown about UK.

    Oh, that's News Corp speak...BS

    It
is a background checking company. All you need to know what dates was
stolen and which companies used this companies database and what
    records did these companies access?

All I know I have never been hired at any entity that required a
    background check, by these people.

A bigger question is "who are these hackers" and where do
    they live?

Usually when they talk about "leaks", it is USA handing over
information to another nation......like China or Israel.

    or

It is the CIA, HLS, FBI doing a sweep of some sort, and they call it a
    leak. You the CIA

    1. Gloria Steinem and book called "Womanism" written by the
CIA but was passed off as being written by a College professor ( who
just happens to be a black woman...........who fainted when it was
found out, and till this day she passes off the lie ).
    2. Golf of Tonga incident. Where the flight-recorder was to made as if
an attack was carried out in order to put US Troops lives in another
    pointless war.
    3. Blowing up that bridge in South East Asia
    4. 9/11 was an inside job because many people ( like Hollywood writers "LoneGunMan" and "Swordfish" ), knew about it in
advance. To the insurance taken out on the Twin Towers, and the fact
President Clinton did absolutely nothing to secure our national
landmarks outside of anti-privacy ( most likely carried out by godless party-brat five-abortions Hillary )
    ...........

Remember the whole HTTPS thing was because of Snowden, and this was
because of PatriotAct, and this was because of
the formation of the HLS ( House of Un Americans Part II ), using your
    privacy against you.

HTTPS forces you to pay for that extra S in some webhosts. Which puts
your website on a list of vunerable pages. Which is stupid.

    ............

So remember to do your taxes even if your not employed otherwise
somebody might do them for you and have the money to themselves.
    It is your money.
