Evictions Surge in Major Cities in the American Sunbelt

Notices in Houston, Las Vegas and Phoenix remain at elevated levels,
even as they have fallen elsewhere

Tenant evictions look stuck at elevated levels in several corners of
the U.S., showing little sign of returning to what was typical before
    the pandemic.

Eviction filings over the past year in a half-dozen cities and
surrounding metropolitan areas are up 35% or more compared with
pre-2020 norms, according to the Eviction Lab, a research unit at
    Princeton University.

With this heat, getting kicked out of Phoenix would be a blessing. Go
    find someplace better to live.

    So
    I found the reason why?

"Arizona's attorney general filed a lawsuit Wednesday, Feb. 28,
2024, accusing multiple companies of illegally
conspiring to fix rent prices in Phoenix and Tucson"

So apparently the state of Arizona wants to raise rent and accused
many of keeping the rent too low prices.
Rather then raising the rent accordingly.

This is a response to the post seen at: http://www.jlaforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=669791851#669791851

    So apparently

The lawsuit was filed on Feb. 28 in Maricopa County Superior Court.
"RealPage promises that by joining up, participants can continually
outpace the market in good times and bad," the lawsuit states.
"Outpace is code for charging higher prices than what would be charged
in a market untainted by collusion."

The DOJ will examine whether RealPage helped landlords coordinate rent increases. Questions also swirl around a 2017 merger deal with its
