Trump is now crossing over to a place where he sees visions of his own
demise. A malignant narcissist cannot cope with this. His gut is a
simmering stew of rage, dread, and malice. He is very unhinged, yet uncomfortable in the feeling itself, if that makes sense. Freud had a
term - narcissistic mortification.
Narcissistic mortification is EXTREME fear experienced when one with a
rigidly grandiose pathology sees his sense of self is exposed as
defective or inferior. Coined by Freud in his book Moses and
Monotheism, it describes deep injuries to ego/self, triggered by his
own compulsiveness, causing not only terror, not only malice, but disorientation. This is where I think he is.
