And yet, maybe he's onto something, because I don't see WashDC doing
    anything about the border crisis.

Want to stop it in a day? Make it the employer's responsibility to
verify citizenship or pay fines/do jail time.

    E-VERIFY.gov exists,

Is it mandatory to E-Verify employees?

E-Verify protects jobs for authorized workers and helps employers
maintain a legal workforce. Am I required to participate in E-Verify?
No. While participation in E-Verify is voluntary for most employers,
other employers may be required by State law or Federal regulation to
    use E-Verify

Why would they? It's a completely made up crisis.

It already is, have you ever been asked when signing the documents for a
new job to verify that you're allowed to work in the US? But if an
employer pays someone under the table, then how is the government to
    know about it?

Right. There's a policy, but it's not enforced. There is the problem.
And everyone knows people are finding their way across the border
because there are jobs to fill if they make it.

Americans desperate to end the border "crisis" should stop employing
illegals. And be prepared to pay more for the services illegal
    immigrants often fill.

    Smells like hypocricy to me.

You keep snipping the context; this might piss some people off. Just
    saying.

Contextually, I believe I was on the same page. Observe this:

Yet the "Republicans" wanmt this so desperately,

"They don't want their sucker/loser base to be pissed off."

thay don't mind seeing Ukraine go to the wall?

This is speculation....non sequitur at this point in time. There are
two aspects here: Republicans vs Party Politics. Individual
Republicans may approve of military/etc aid to Ukraine, but their
Party's Politics is pulling a gambit which might suggest they "don't
mind seeing Ukraine go to the wall." Their gambit may or may not
succeed, btw. But its purpose is for appeasement to their base.

Pretty crass, you are right. I think the political calculus is so
narrow these days, any long-term, strategic, or geopolitical thinking is
gone. The sad thing is, the USA decided to arm Ukraine just well enough
to cause a stalemate, but not well enough to end the war. And now
everyone is "tired of paying for this" and sick of not winning.
    Infantile, really.

Letting Putin win will be the mistake of a generation, if it comes to
be. Putin calculated the west would tire of the war. Looky here, he
    was correct.
