Hacker sentenced to 30 months in jail for stealing funds via computer
    scheme

A Florida man was sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading
guilty to conspiracy to commit computer fraud.

Jordan Dave Persad, 20, of Orlando, Florida, also was ordered to pay
    $945,833 in restitution.

According to a press release issued by the United States Attorney's
Office - District of Arizona, Persad and his co-conspirators hacked
into victims' email accounts, hijacked their cell phone numbers and
gained unauthorized access to their online cryptocurrency accounts.

Through the scheme, Persad and his co-conspirators stole close to $1
million worth of cryptocurrency, including approximately $30,000 from
    a victim in Arizona.

The group divided the stolen funds amongst themselves.

    Persad's share totaled approximately $475,000.

Good Lord, makes you not even want to go on line anymore. If it
accesses the internet, it can be hacked. Even your bank account.

I'm not using an online app via Smartphone, but a desktop computer
with the bank sending a numerical pass-code via email to access the
    account.

Gmail account has the 2-Step verification in use, and bank emails are
deleted in gmail. Hence, a hacker would essentially be clueless about
    the bank account.

Gmail does have a new biometrics verification means available, and if
a person used this, I believe hackers would be out of business for
    those using Gmail.

Call me old-school, but I mail checks to pay bills. No type of on-line banking, here.
